Changzhou recorded a total of 66,000 blood donations in 2022, marking a 4.6 percent increase compared to the previous year. This information was shared during the Changzhou Blood Donation Work Conference 2023, which took place on Wednesday.
Notably, the city's average blood donation rate per 1,000 people stood at 28.6, significantly higher than the national average of 11.5.
Furthermore, Changzhou has been honored as a national advanced city in blood donation for six consecutive years, marking its 12th year receiving this prestigious title. A total of 2,552 individuals were awarded as nationally recognized blood donors during the 2020-2021 period.
Currently, the city boasts an incredible community of blood donors, including 49,000 regular blood donors, 18,000 emergency blood donors, 720 donors with rare blood types, and 916 component donors. Additionally, there is an enthusiastic team of 1,087 volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to support blood donation initiatives. The city's emergency voluntary blood donation response rate has also made significant progress, improving from 70 percent to 89 percent.
To ensure convenient access to blood donation services, Changzhou has implemented a combination of fixed and mobile donation facilities. With a network of 20 donation sites, including nine donation stations and 11 fixed donation vehicles, the city has further enhanced its capabilities with six large-scale blood collection vehicles and 11 blood delivery vehicles. Moreover, there are 20 designated parking spaces for mobile blood collection vehicles, effectively establishing a comprehensive voluntary blood donation service network that caters to both urban and rural areas.
