The Yangtze River Delta, an economically vibrant region in China, saw the operation of its first railway loop line on Saturday, connecting the metropolis of Shanghai with major cities in the regional cluster.

Coded G8388, the first train service on the loop railway was launched from the Shanghai Railway Station at 10:27 a.m. on Saturday. For a full loop, the train is scheduled to travel for eight hours and nine minutes on a track that extends more than 1,200 km.

Along the loop line, Shanghai and the provincial capital cities of Nanjing, Hefei, and Hangzhou are all important transport hubs connected with the country's railway trunk lines. Dubbed a scenic line, the railway threads through picturesque cities such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Nanjing.

Moreover, the routes of the G7206 and G7136 trains from Shanghai Hongqiao to Anqing have been adjusted, now passing through Changzhou Station and Qishuyan Station, reducing travel time to Huangshan West Station to just 3 hours and 10 minutes.

The latest schedule adjustment saw Changzhou Railway Station add 21 new passenger services, with five new trains at Changzhou Station, one at Changzhou North Station, nine at Wujin Station, and six at Jintan Station. Additionally, the routes and numbers of 12 existing passenger trains have been modified. Post-adjustment, Changzhou Station now handles 349 trains, Changzhou North Station 145, Qishuyan Station 12, Wujin Station 56, and Jintan Station 51.

The railway department reminds passengers that the third-quarter schedule will coincide with the summer schedule, which runs from July 1 to August 31. Additional temporary passenger services will be added based on demand. Travelers are advised to check the 12306.cn website, app, WeChat, or station announcements of China Railway for updates and to plan their journeys accordingly.
