The National Immigration Administration (NIA) implemented the "5-star card" on December 1, introducing a new version of the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card for the People's Republic of China.
On the same day, Changzhou issued the inaugural card in Jiangsu province to Hans Larsson, a technical project manager at Habia Cable's production facility in Changzhou.
While retaining the fundamental design of the existing version, the new card incorporates five-star elements representing the Chinese national flag and optimizes the overall layout. Advanced anti-counterfeiting technology has been integrated, and improvements have been made to information storage and access to application management services.
As per the NIA, the introduction of the new card is a specific initiative to support the country's high-standard opening-up policy and enhance services for foreign talents residing and working in China.
