On August 1, Hohai University's new campus in Changzhou opened its doors to the public, welcoming its first visitors. Set to begin student enrollment in the upcoming autumn semester, the new campus covers an expansive area of 700,000 square meters and is situated on the north side of Changdang Lake in Jintan district. Drawing inspiration from its expertise in water resources engineering, the campus is designed with a strong emphasis on water features, creating a serene and cohesive environment. From a bird's-eye view, the buildings artfully form a massive Chinese character "river," with the library standing at its heart.
Aligned with Changzhou's ambitious initiatives as the World New Energy Capital and the burgeoning Twin Lakes Innovation Zone, the campus will prioritize the development of cutting-edge programs, including new engineering, new agricultural sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. By imparting knowledge and skills in areas like smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, new energy, and new materials, the university aims to equip students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
The Changzhou Campus of Hohai University will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and it envisions a promising future with a projected enrollment of 20,000 full-time students by the autumn semester of 2025.
