On the afternoon of October 12, the Olympics 2012 Women’s Handball Qualification Asia was opened in Changzhou.

Last October, after the severe competition with candidate cities of Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and other countries, Changzhou was finally selected as the host city of this Qualification by the Asian Handball Federation (AHF). The champion team will directly qualify for the London Olympics, while the runner up has to attend the world qualification tournament.

This event is sponsored by AHF and organized by the Center of Handball, Hockey, Baseball and Softball of the General Administration of Sport of China, China Handball Association, Jiangsu Sports Administration and Changzhou Municipal Government. The participating teams are from China, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and North Korea.

The tournament will be broadcast live or taped by NHK (JPN), SK (KOR) and CCTV (CHN).
