On June 4 and 5, a Delegation of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, led by Zhang Wenkui, vice chairman of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of CPPCC and secretary of the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Committee of CPC, visited Changzhou. On the afternoon of the 4, Qi Jiabin, secretary of the Changzhou Municipal Committee of CPC, met with the delegation.
Qi Jiabin welcomed Zhang Wenkui and his entourage. He said that Hainan Prefecture is seated in Qinghai Province, where the Sanjiangyuan (source of three rivers) is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang (Mekong) rivers. Since 2010, Changzhou has been supporting the poverty alleviation in Gonghe County, Hainan Prefecture. A total of 16 Changzhou officials have been dispatched to Gonghe to work there and promote economic and trade cooperation, personnel training, medical assistance, etc. The Changzhou side has done a lot of work to provide effective assistance for poverty alleviation and economic development in Gonghe and even Hainan. At the same time, both sides have forged a deep friendship.
Zhang Wenkui expressed his gratitude to Changzhou for its support over the years. He said that all counties in the prefecture, including Gonghe, have achieved poverty alleviation, which greatly improved the livelihood, education and medical services in the area, laying a solid foundation for the prefecture’s continuous development. Zhang hopes that through this visit, the delegation will learn more from Changzhou's experience in rural revitalization and the protection of the Yangtze River.
During their stay in Changzhou, Zhang and his entourage also visited the source water protection program of Tianmu Lake, the Nanshan tourism project in Liyang and the characteristic countryside in Niutang.
