The 2023 China Changzhou International Forum on Science and Technology & Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation commenced on October 8, marking the 18th consecutive year of this significant event. This year's theme, "Opening Up and Unleashing Our Energy for Greater Innovation," is designed to facilitate connections between domestic and international economic, technological, industrial, and talent resources, with the goal of accelerating Changzhou's transformation into a hub for new energy.
During the event, a total of 12 fund projects were officially signed, and 18 industrial and technological innovation projects received endorsement, with a combined investment reaching nearly 55 billion yuan. Notably, ten of these projects were dedicated to the new energy sector, with a total investment of 31 billion yuan, as reported by the Organizing Committee.
Changzhou has set a strategic target to become the "Capital of New Energy" and has been actively fostering the growth of the new energy industry, unlocking its green potential. In the period from January to July, large-scale enterprises in the new energy manufacturing sector achieved a total output value of 404.22 billion yuan, reflecting a 23.3% year-on-year growth. Furthermore, from January to August, over 200 new energy projects were initiated, with a cumulative investment exceeding 90 billion yuan. Exports of "New Three" products, including electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells, surged to 21.61 billion USD, marking a 17.1% increase.
To attract investments spanning the entire new energy industry chain, innovation chain, talent chain, and capital chain, Changzhou has established a 5-billion-yuan New Energy Industry Investment Fund. The ten new energy projects inked during the forum's opening ceremony will play a pivotal role in advancing the direction of photovoltaic development, with a strong emphasis on new energy storage. These endeavors will bolster the overall scale and quality of industries related to new energy vehicles, core components, intelligent connected vehicle software and hardware products, as well as high-end automotive electronics, propelling the ongoing growth of Changzhou's industrial clusters.
Numerous leading companies in the new energy field have accelerated the development of several key new energy projects, extending the "longboard" of the new energy industry in Changzhou.
Over the years, Changzhou has been dedicated to promoting comprehensive and high-level international development. The opening ceremony of this year's forum saw the participation of more than 300 domestic and foreign business guests, with foreign attendees exceeding 30% of the total. Among them were executives from Fortune Global 500 companies, multinational corporations, and renowned firms. Throughout this year, over 60 CEOs from multinational companies have visited Changzhou, reinforcing their trust in the city through tangible actions, including factory inspections, project assessments, attendance at new project and production line launch ceremonies, and discussions on capital increases and production expansion.
