Recently, Changzhou Children's Theatre (also known as Hua Luogeng Art Troupe) was officially upgraded to Jiangsu Children's Art Theatre. On the afternoon of June 1, Wang Yanwen, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and director of the Publicity Department of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Qi Jiabin, secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, Chen Tao, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and director of the Publicity Department of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, Fang Guoqiang, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and secretary-general of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and Chen Zhengchun, vice mayor of Changzhou, attended the unveiling ceremony.
In 2002, the theatre took the lead in the reform of cultural administrative system. Since then, it has produced 10 children’s plays including The Young Hualuogeng, Children Left Behind, and Bronze and Sunflower, making over 8,000 tours nationwide. These works have been selected for the national Best Works Award, national Stage Art Award, provincial Cultural Award and other authoritative awards. After upgrading, the theater has now become the city’s first provincial-level art theatre and the province’s first children's theatre troupe.
Qi Jiabin said in his speech that Changzhou will take this inauguration as a starting point for a new round of cultural development, in order to nurture more cultural institutions that are committed to producing outstanding literary and artistic works with a positive social impact.
At the ceremony, Jiangsu Grand Theatre and the East China Branch of Beijing Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd. respectively signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Children's Art Theatre.
