On June 27, Changzhou Institute of Engineering Technology (CZIE) and LANXESS AG, a specialty chemicals group based in Germany, signed a framework agreement to jointly build a LANXESS (China) vocational education and training base.

According to this agreement, in 2013, LANXESS Chemical (China) Company Limited will select and recruit the first batch of students (about 20 members) from CZIE to work at LANXESS manufacturing bases in Changzhou and Liyang. Moreover, CZIE will act as an employee training base of LANXESS (China), which is responsible for providing LANXESS staff with vocational education and special technical training according to the requirement of LANXESS. On the other hand, LANXESS will dispatch its professional engineers to give lectures on such programs.

LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals supplier around the world. In 2010, LANXESS had approximately 15,500 employees serving at 46 production bases in 30 countries and achieved annual sales revenue of € 7.1 billion. The company’s core business includes R&D, production and marketing of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals. Last year, LANXESS invested heavily in the construction of its leather chemicals plant at the chemical park of Changzhou National High-tech District. This project is estimated to complete within the first half of 2013, which will focus on producing high-quality leather chemicals for the domestic market.
