Changzhou Benniu International Airport reported a robust passenger throughput of 359,000 in May, representing a 5.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
Passenger Services:
In a bid to enhance its route network, Changzhou Airport inaugurated the Shenzhen-Changzhou-Turpan route. The airport has bolstered its partnerships with airlines and travel agencies, rolling out innovative ticketing products such as "Air-Rail Intermodal" and "Air-Air Transfer" options to provide more travel choices for passengers. To further accommodate travelers, the airport has optimized its shuttle bus schedules in line with flight operations. Notably, international and Macao routes saw a significant upturn, with passenger numbers soaring to 26,000, a staggering 150.7% year-on-year increase.
Cargo Services:
In May, the airport also achieved notable growth in cargo operations, handling 1,477 tons of belly cargo and mail, up 24% from the previous year. Outbound belly cargo amounted to 719.9 tons, marking a 39.44% increase, with key shipments including clothing, express parcels, and circuit boards. Inbound belly cargo stood at 757.1 tons, a modest 0.94% rise.
To drive cargo volume growth, Changzhou Airport expanded its market for fresh products, notably increasing the transport of live fish, shrimp, and crayfish. Collaboration with new airlines has also enhanced cargo capacity on less popular midday routes, significantly boosting shipping capabilities and efficiency.
