On the morning of July 2, Qi Jiabin, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, headed a delegation to Xidian University in Xi’an city, Shaanxi province. Zha Xianyou, secretary of the CPC Xidian University Committee, and Prof. Hao Yue, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), received the delegation.

Xidian University is a national key university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, especially strong in information and electronics. Its founder and first president Wang Zheng was a Changzhou native. The university’s School of Microelectronics was one of the first institutes in China to carry out education and research programs in microelectronics, and is currently a national research center dedicated to the cultivation of high-caliber talents and innovation capacity in this field.

Qi Jiabin said in the meeting that Changzhou is focusing on building a star city for industrial intelligence while grasping the opportunities of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Integration Plan. Seeing integrated circuit as the core of the information technology industry, Changzhou attaches great importance to the development of the integrated circuit industry. In recent years, the Wujin National Hi-tech Industrial Zone (WIZ) has been focusing on the compound semiconductor industry, and actively cooperated with well-known domestic universities to improve its ecosystem for integrated circuit industry. Qi hoped that Xidian University will give full play to its advantages in scientific research and talent cultivation, and cooperate with Changzhou in commercialization of S&T achievements.

Zha Xianyou said that Xidian University is now making more efforts to support the development of local industries. He hoped that the two sides will maintain effective communication and seek cooperation possibilities that will give play to each side’s advantages. Xidian University is willing to carry out cooperation with Changzhou in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements as well as personnel training.
