On February 22, the signing ceremony of Corning-Changzhou University Joint Laboratory was held in Changzhou Unviersity. Corning Incorporated is one of the Fortune 500 Companies. This was the first time Corning cooperated with a Chinese college to set up laboratory, which plays an important role in promoting the upgrading of Changzhou's chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Since Corning cooperated with Changzhou University last year, the company has successfully established a complete set of Reactor System Evaluation Platform in the university. This platform allows Changzhou University to take a leading position in the relative field. Based on this background, the Joint Laboratory for Reactor Applications was founded as Corning's first  application research center and product promotion platform for reactor technology in China. Both parties will carry out all-round coordination in the application development and product promotion of this technology. 

It was learnt that Corning reactor was mainly applied in the chemical process development and mass production of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, flavors and fragrances and fine chemicals. The completion of the joint lab will effectively promote Changzhou's local fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries to achieve technological upgrading and industrial optimization.

Corning is one of the top 500 enterprises in USA and a world pioneer of special glass and ceramics. With a history of 160 years, Corning has made three major contributions to the world: in 1879, Corning invented and manufactured the first glass bulb, which turned Edison's invention into reality; in 1947, the company invented and mass produced the first television picture tubes, enabling millions of households to have television; in 1970, it first invented and manufactured the world's first optical fiber, after which the optical fiber communications can be widely used.
