In 2010, total 118,000 people of Changzhou traveled abroad. Among these travelers, 40,000 people visited foreign countries, while more than 70% of them went overseas for tourism vacation. Japan, Thailand and South Korea turned out to be the top three tourist destinations. Such a rapid growth will probably continue its pace in 2011. On January 4, the first working day in the New Year, approximately 680 Changzhou citizens submitted documents for visa application, hitting a new record.    

Last year, 73,000 foreigners visited Changzhou, up 43%. The number of permanent foreign residents in Changzhou reached 2,866, an increase of 9%.
