During a visit to Jiangsu province, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized that Jiangsu, with its solid industrial foundation, abundant scientific and educational resources, favorable business environment, and large market, has both the capability and responsibility to lead and set an example in China's modernization efforts.

To achieve this, Jiangsu must fully implement the new development philosophy, excel in reform, innovation, and high-quality development, and play a leading role in forging a new development pattern and achieving socialist modernization. By vigorously advancing the practice of Chinese modernization, Jiangsu can create a modernized province characterized by a strong economy, prosperous population, pristine environment, and high social civility.

During his visit from July 5 to 7, Xi inspected various places, including an industrial park, enterprises, a historical and cultural block, and a science lab, in the cities of Suzhou and Nanjing.

In Suzhou, Xi emphasized the significance of hi-tech industrial parks in achieving technological self-reliance and strength. He stressed the need to strengthen the integration of technological and industrial innovation, promote the application of scientific and technological achievements, nurture new industries, and lead in industrial upgrading with new technologies.

Xi also visited Suzhou HYC Technology Co., Ltd., where he encouraged young researchers to seize opportunities, reach new heights in science and technology, and contribute to China's national rejuvenation.

In the Pingjiang Road historical and cultural block, Xi praised Suzhou's integration of tradition and modernity and urged officials to protect and promote fine traditional Chinese culture.

In Nanjing, Xi visited Purple Mountain Laboratories and called for down-to-earth innovation to enhance scientific and technological self-reliance. He also visited NARI Group Corporation and emphasized the importance of energy supply and safety, urging the development of advanced technologies and strengthening national energy security.

Xi highlighted the need for Jiangsu to lead in science and technology innovation, build a national hub for innovation, promote the real economy, upgrade the industrial foundation, and develop a modern industrial system. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional culture, developing modern scientific and educational undertakings, and improving governance and people's wellbeing.

As the country faces flood and drought risks, Xi called for preparedness, protection of lives and property, and efforts to minimize losses. He stressed the importance of implementing the Party's decisions and plans and achieving tangible results.

Cai Qi, a member of the CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau, accompanied Xi on the visit, along with other leading officials.
