The 2nd Grand Canal Culture and Tourism Expo opened in Wuxi city on September 3.
Events during the expo covered the whole spectrum of the business including catering, accommodation, transportation, tour, shopping and entertainment to stimulate cultural and tourism consumption.
In addition to the main venue in Wuxi, all cities with subordinate districts in Jiangsu province also hosted various events, both online and offline. More than 30 cities along the Grand Canal, the longest artificial river in the world, introduced their distinctive cultural and tourism resources through 163 shows and 59 promotions.
During the cultural and tourism products exhibition held from September 4-6, the Changzhou booth, designed based on the historic block of Qingguo Lane, displayed the city’s cultural and creative products, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) handicrafts and vacation packages with best deals. Dong Yuetong, the ICH inheritor of Changzhou Combs, and Wu Cheng, inheritor of Random-Stitch Embroidery, showcased their skills at the exhibition. The performances of Xiju Opera and Chinese orchestra on site attracted a large audience. Many visitors stopped by the booth for information about the city’s attractions like China Dinosaur Park and Tianmu Lake Resorts.
At the food exhibition, Changzhou chefs and ICH inheritors presented the time-honored local cuisines and must-try dishes of Changzhou, such as the casserole fish-head soup from Tianmu Lake, Yinsi thin noodles and lard-fried dough with red bean filling.
In addition, Changzhou organized a 20-member cycling team to participate in the Canal bicycling competition on the opening day.
