Changzhou received more than 2.6 million visitors during this year’s Spring Festival holiday, local authorities said Sunday.
The tourism spending from January 31 to February 6 reached around 2.74 billion yuan, higher than the numbers reported during last year’s Spring Festival holiday.
The city’s three state-level 5A scenic areas, namely the Universal Dinosaur Town, the Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort, and the Spring and Autumn Yancheng Scenic Area, received a total of 824,200 visitors and raked in about 78.6 million yuan during the week-long holiday.
During the seven-day national holiday from January 31, the city’s 15 key tourist attractions held approximately 500 promotional activities with the theme of Staying in Changzhou for Spring Festival.
Visitors participated in various celebration activities held in the China Dinosaur Park, Tianmu Lake Resort, Yancheng Amusement Park, Yancheng Safari Park, and other tourist attractions.
As the city’s popular destinations for nighttime hangouts, Qingguo Lane, Tianmu Lake, and Dino Watertown all saw strong growth in tourist numbers.
In terms of rural tourism, the county-level city of Liyang and the districts of Zhonglou district, Wujin, Tianning, and Xinbei held cultural tourism activities themed on charming country life, characteristic customs, and intangible cultural heritages, attracting more than 330,000 visitors.
Meanwhile, cultural activities, exhibitions, and performances hosted by local libraries, museums, and other public cultural venues attracted more than 110,000 viewers and participants.
The Spring Festival holiday has brought the city’s tourism sector booming consumption growth, said Changzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism.
