The city’s urbanization rate reached 70.00%, 1.30 percentage points higher than the previous year.

Urbanization is a population shift from rural to urban areas, and the ways in which each society adapts to the change. It is predominantly the process by which towns and cities are formed and become larger as more people begin living and working in central areas. Urbanization can be quantified as the rate at which the urban proportion of the population is increasing. The rate of urbanization describes changes in the proportion of urban to rural dwellers over time. In official statistics, the "urban" includes not only urban areas, but also the villages receiving urban public services; while the urban population refers to all people living in the city, including migrant workers who have been living in the city for more than six months.

Some experts predict that China's urbanization rate is expected to reach nearly 70% by 2030. Under the new normal of economic development, population migration flows will continue to increase in China, and labor migration is still the major support of China’s rapid economic growth.
