Changzhou’s foreign trade set a record high in 2022, data from Changzhou Customs showed on Tuesday.

Last year, the city’s total import and export volume registered 322.85 billion yuan, up 7.5% on a yearly basis. The growth rate is 2.7 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking 5th in Jiangsu.

One of the key factors for such sound performance is that the municipal government has helped market entities stay afloat. A total of 8,628 foreign trade companies have achieved steady growth over the past year, up from 8,282 in 2021. Companies on the list of Top 100 Foreign Trade Enterprises account for nearly half of the total foreign trade volume in Changzhou.

The export of industrial products raised 14.7%, among which new energy products accounted for a large part.

BTR New Material Group, located in Jintan district, is a professional manufacturer of cathode and anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. In 2022, after its assembly line was put into production, the company exported goods worth of 100 million yuan, a surge of 478.5% year-on-year. In addition, leading enterprises in the new energy sector like Eging Photovoltaic Technology and Easpring Material Technology registered an increase of 245.3% and 210.4% in export respectively.

In terms of products, the export of solar cells and lithium batteries increased 42.7% and 30.4% respectively.
