Changzhou witnessed full recovery of its consumer markets during the eight-day holiday, which combines China’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. Data showed that the city’s 36 medium and large retail stores, 20 restaurants and nine urban complexes under statistical supervision achieved sales revenue of over 900 million yuan, an increase of 3.81% over the same period last year.
The Lingjiatang Wholesale Market, which supplies more than 1,000 kinds of agricultural by-products, was prepared with over 7,000 tons of vegetables, nearly 3,000 tons of fruits and aqua products as well as 2,000 tons of other agricultural products every day during the holiday. Its sales reached 854.75 million, up 7.7 % year-on-year.
Large supermarkets with popular products like snacks, drinks, milk, fruit and meat achieved food and beverage sales of 61.99 million, an increase of 2.33%.
The New Century Shopping Mall and Taifu Department Store, with a variety of sales events, reached 558.54 million in sales, increasing by 20.45%.
Offering diverse entertainment venues, dining experiences of all kinds and incredible shopping adventures all in one integrated area, the city’s nine urban complexes made a total of 347.89 million in sales, grew by 6.13%.
Joining the national campaign to stop food waste and help cultivate new eating habits for customers, Changzhou’s restaurants have been advocating food-saving actions using LED advertising screens or posting food conservation slogans in the dining area. During the holiday, the 20 model restaurants under statistical supervision reached sales of 25.94 million, an increase of 1.81%.
