According to data released by Changzhou Statistics Bureau, from January to September this year, the city’s GDP reached 700.61 billion yuan, up 6.7% measured by constant prices. The growth rate surpassed the provincial average by 0.9 percentage points in the first nine months.
In the same period, the value-added of the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors reached 9.16 billion, 335.01 billion, and 356.44 billion yuan, surging 2.6 percent, 7.1 percent, and 6.5 percent from a year earlier, respectively.
In terms of industrial production, the industrial invoicing revenue recorded 1.5 trillion yuan in the first three quarters, increasing by 8.7% year-on-year. The growth rate of value added of industries above designated size remained first in southern Jiangsu for 18 consecutive months. The output value of new energy industry increased by 19.9% compared with the last year, in which the NEV, EV battery and PV energy increased by 146.8%, 8.5%, and 11.0% respectively.
In terms of export and import, the trade volume totaled 239.96 billion yuan. The export of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries and PV solar panels grew by 15.3%. Export to countries in the Belt and Road Initiative surged 12.1%, accounting for nearly half of the city’s total export volume.
In addition, statistics show that the disposable income per capita reached 47,347 yuan in the month ending September, an increase of 5.3%, ranking second in southern Jiangsu by growth rate. The urban-to-rural income ratio stood at 1.814:1, indicating a narrowed income disparity.
