In 2020, Changzhou Customs issued a total of 76,575 Certificates of Origin throughout the year, ranking first in Nanjing Customs District, one of China’s 10 customs districts.

A Certificate of Origin (CO) is an important international trade document that certifies that goods in a particular export shipment are wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. They declare the ‘nationality’ of the product and also serve as a declaration by the exporter to satisfy customs or trade requirements.

Last year, Changzhou Customs launched a self-service system for printing of Certificates of Origin, which is much more convenient and saves companies a trip to the customs. Data showed that 91% (43,191 certificates) of the total Certificates of Origin issued in 2020 were printed through this self-service printing system.

Changzhou Customs can also issue Referential Certificate of Origin (PCO) under free trade agreements or schemes of preferences such as the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA). On January 1, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was officially implemented, since when local enterprises can apply for PCOs via http://online.customs.gov.cn/ under the China-Mauritius Free Trade Agreement (China-Mauritius FTA).
