On the evening of February 27, Changzhou hosted the 2024 Chinese New Year Reception for Foreign Consulates-General in Shanghai. Vice Mayor Pan Dongling, representing Changzhou Municipal Government, met with consular officials from 21 countries, including Russia, Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Chile, and Spain, to renew friendships and discuss cooperation.
This annual event serves as a crucial platform for Changzhou to engage globally and for the world to gain insights into its progress. Years of exchanges have injected remarkable vitality into Changzhou's development. Currently, Changzhou boasts friendship city relationships with 53 cities across 27 countries on five continents. More than 3,000 foreign-invested enterprises call Changzhou home, with 68 Fortune 500 companies contributing to its growth. Collaborative efforts with countries like Israel, Germany, Switzerland, and Japan have led to the establishment of several provincial and national-level industrial parks. As a premier open port, Changzhou Benniu International Airport now operates 36 domestic routes and offers 12 weekly flights to countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos.
This year signifies a significant milestone as Changzhou's GDP surpasses one trillion yuan for the first time. Looking ahead, Changzhou is committed to scaling even greater heights alongside the consulates general in Shanghai. Strengthening contacts, fostering mutual trust, deepening cooperation, and promoting shared development remain integral to Changzhou's future vision.
