In Changzhou, the Charity Donation Day has been held for 15 years in a row. Officials in the government take the lead in the fundraising activity, along with wide participation from all walks of life, which has made the event well-known.
At the ceremony, the municipal leaders stressed that the culture of philanthropy should be promoted in the government, enterprises, communities and schools alike. The following Charity Month offers an opportunity to explore activities of various forms and shapes. The online charity events, in particular, will expand channels for fundraising. In addition, supervision will be carried out in accordance with the Charity Law and Jiangsu Regulations on Charity to improve the credibility of charitable organizations.
The Changzhou government has always attached importance to the cause of philanthropy. It has strengthened policy support, explored new models and new carriers, and built a vibrant ecosystem for charity. The city's charity societies have collected and pledged a total of 3.015 billion yuan of charitable funds, and helped 1.867 million people with various difficulties, including students, orphans, the disabled and the elderly.
