Changzhou and Singapore to speed up cooperation

On the afternoon of October 28th, Party Secretary Yan Li and Mayor Fei Gaoyun met with the Singapore representatives of the Singapore Jiangsu Cooperation Council (SJCC), led by Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Education and Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry of Singapore. Both sides had an in-depth communication about further enhancing the all round cooperation between Singapore and Changzhou.

Municipal leaders such as Cai Jun, Fang Guoqiang and Xu Xinmin attended the meeting.

Yan Li introduced the economic and social development of Changzhou. He indicated that Changzhou was undergoing further adjustment of industrial structure and was actively promoting the transformation and upgrading of enterprises; Changzhou would learn from and absorb the advanced technology and experience of Singapore in eco-environment construction, scientific and technological innovation and urban planning, and welcomed more Singapore enterprises to invest and develop in Changzhou; Changzhou would provide active service to the enterprises and actively promote and deepen the exchanges and cooperation on smart city construction, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and financial innovation for mutual benefit and common development.

Heng Swee Keat expressed his expectation to the future cooperation between Singapore and Changzhou. He said that, in recent years, Changzhou’s superior investment environment and policy had attracted more and more Singapore entrepreneurs to invest and start business in Changzhou; and they developed well. The 8th Meeting of SJCC to be held in Changzhou would draw more attention of Singapore entrepreneurs to the Dragon City. Besides traditional industries like manufacturing, there also lay great potential for cooperation on scientific and technological innovation as well as modern service industry. Heng indicated that, in the future, they would keep on promoting the economic and trade exchanges between Singapore and Changzhou in order to help more enterprises know about Changzhou and come to Changzhou to investigate the market; they would encourage their entrepreneurs to invest and start business in Changzhou.
