On June 28, the ground breaking ceremony of the new site of Hohai University Changzhou Campus was held in Jintan district.

Ma Xin, vice governor of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, Hu Jinbo, secretary of the CPC Nanjing University Committee, Yan Yixin, member of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress, Tang Hongwu, secretary of the CPC Hohai University Committee, Xu Hui, president of Hohai University, Qi Jiabin, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and Chen Jinhu, mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, attended the event.

Tang Hongwu said in his speech that Hohai University takes the construction of its new Changzhou Campus as a historic opportunity for Hohai to develop its blueprint in connection with Changzhou’s Star City Initiative. The new campus will combine its construction layout and strategic plan with Jintan’s advantages in culture, location, industry and natural environment, aiming to gather high-level faculties and cultivate talents with global perspectives.

At the ceremony, Chen Jinhu spoke highly of Hohai University as an important platform for Changzhou’s innovation in science and education. Over the past 30 years, Hohai’s Changzhou Campus, deeply rooted in the city, has become a key center for talent cultivation and a major resource of innovative development, actively contributing to Changzhou’s economic and social development. The construction of the new campus will definitely upgrade the image, talent pool and industry of Jintan and even Changzhou to a new level. The CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government will always support Hohai’s development with the best services, so that more high-end scientific and technological achievements as well as high-caliber talents will be introduced into Changzhou.

The new site of Hohai University Changzhou Campus is located in the Changdang Lake Resort, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan. Expected to be put into use in fall 2023, the campus is looking forward to enroll 20,000 full-time students by then. Schools of Mechanic Engineering, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Finance, Industrial Design, and Top Talents will offer programs for bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s degrees.
