On the morning of May 31, the 2020 China • Changdang Lake Shrimp Festival opened in Youshan village, Rulin town, Jintan district. The event will last for tow months, including activities like the Duanwu Feast, Camping and Kiting, and Lakefood Market.

Changdang Lake is a typical shallow water lake with heavy cover. Having a depth of about 1.2 meters and adequate dissolved oxygen in water, the lake provides a perfect living environment for fish and shrimps.

May and June are the best time to harvest shrimp in the Changdang Lake. To promote lake tourism and local cuisine, Jintan has hosted the Changdang Lake Shrimp Festival for eight consecutive years. The Changdang Lakefood Feast, including dishes of shrimps and hairy crabs, has been titled as a famous Chinese feast.
