Recently, it was learned from Pingling Electric Vehicle, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Pingling Group in Liyang city of Changzhou, that as of December 2023, the city's fleet of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 15,215, with a penetration rate of 36.42% (pure electric vehicles accounting for 13,144, or 86.39%), achieving the status of a new first-tier city.
The robust growth of NEVs in Liyang can be attributed to the city's ongoing efforts in establishing a dense and high-quality charging infrastructure system and swiftly constructing supporting power grid facilities. Since setting the goal of becoming an "Electric China Demonstration Zone" in 2021, Liyang has successfully achieved comprehensive coverage of charging stations in townships, sub-districts, cultural and tourist attractions, public transport terminals, and highway service areas. This extensive network allows electric vehicle owners to return home, travel far, and explore rural areas.
According to statistics, Liyang boasts a total of 176 operational charging stations, providing over 1,500 charging spots cumulatively. The annual accumulated charging capacity exceeds 10 million kilowatt-hours.
