According to the National Bureau of Statistics upon their price survey on Changzhou, the city's consumer price index in July was 102.0, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to June.
　　The rising indices were as follows: 101.7 of the food, 103.1 of alcoholic drinks and tobacco, 101.6 of clothing, 107.3 of household equipment and maintenance services, 100.3 of the health care and personal products, 101.8 of entertainment and educational products and related services and 104.6 of housing. The CPI of transportation and communication dropped to 97.8.
　　The consumer price level rose 0.5% over June. Among the eight categories of consumer prices, the prices of food, clothing, household equipment and maintenance services, health care and personal products, recreation, education and culture articles and housing were increased respectively by 1.6%, 0.2%, 0.1%, 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.5%; the prices of transportation and communication dropped by 0.9 percent; and that of alcoholic drinks and tobacco were unchanged from June.
