On the afternoon of May 18, the Sino-US Environmental Protection Forum, with "technology, environment, eco-city" as the theme, was held in Changzhou. Mayor Fei Gaoyun, Mr. Hanscom Smith, the US Consul General in Shanghai, attended the forum.

Fei stated in his speech that Changzhou will seize the major opportunity of environmental protection industry, head toward green manufacturing and promote coordinated development of green equipment, green products and green services, in order to build a better Changzhou. The convening of this forum will drive the government, enterprises and the public to work together to create a green economy, green home and green future. Changzhou government will strongly support the growth and development of environmental protection enterprises. Meanwhile, Fei urged all entrepreneurs to take part in environmental protection and make new and greater contributions to building a strong, prosperous, beautiful and high-tech Changzhou.

The forum carried out technological exchanges and experience sharing. Zhang Jianyu, the Program Director of Environmental Defense Fund’s China project headquartered in Beijing, and Prof. Zhu Dajian, director of the Department of Public Administration and the Sustainable Development and New Urbanization Think Tank of Tongji University, respectively delivered keynote speech.
