On June 4, Chen Jinhu, deputy secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, received a delegation headed by Kim Seung-ho, South Korea’s consul general in Shanghai, at the Administration Center.

Chen Jinhu said that the long-lasting friendship between Changzhou and South Korean cities has created close trade cooperation, sound investments, and booming people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

He briefed the delegation on Changzhou’s tasks for the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan period, during which the city will enhance its role as an intelligent manufacturing hub in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Confident in the city’s favorable business environment for international investors, Chen hoped to see more South Korean companies picking Changzhou as their investment destination of choice.

Kim Seung-ho was impressed with Changzhou’s development momentum and inspiring achievements in recent years, which he believed was inseparable from the city’s outstanding investment environment. He looked forward to closer exchanges and cooperation between Changzhou and South Korean cities in multiple areas.

By the end of last year, Changzhou had a total of 296 South Korean-invested enterprises. Their contracted registered capital amounted to 1.82 billion US dollars. Local companies have invested in 11 projects in South Korea, the accumulative investments of which have reached 27.7 million dollars.

In 2020, Changzhou’s trade in goods and services with South Korean cities totaled 2.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent.

Zhou Chengtao, secretary-general of the Municipal Government, was present at the meeting.
