The 14th National People's Congress (NPC) will convene its first session on Sunday morning in Beijing and conclude on March 13, running for eight and a half days.
A total of 2,977 deputies to China's top legislature, the 14th NPC, will gather in the capital to begin their five-year term as national legislators.
The six deputies from Changzhou, including Sheng Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People's Government, Li Chengxia, chairperson of the Labor Union of Changzhou Laosan Group, Zhang Daoheng, president of Changzhou Runtu Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative Society, Dong Caiping, president of Zenith Steel Group Co., Ltd., Liu Jingyu, president of CALB Group Co., Ltd., and Xu Yunfei, president of Jiangsu Jinfeng Cements Group Co., Ltd., departed for Beijing on Friday to attend the annual Two Sessions, where they will provide advice on trending issues such as education, people's livelihoods, and development in various industries.
As per the session's agenda, the congress will review the annual work reports of the central government, the NPC Standing Committee, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
They will also deliberate the annual draft plan for central and local budgets and review a draft amendment to the Legislation Law.
Additionally, an important task for the congress during the session is to discuss a draft plan for the reform of State institutions. The national lawmakers will also elect and appoint office members of central State organs.
