According to the statistics authority, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in Changzhou rose by 2.3 percent in January on an annual basis, which is 1.0 percent higher than that of December 2022.
The prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol saw an increase of 5 percent year-on-year. Within the food category, the prices of fresh vegetables, fruit, pork, livestock meat, and eggs rose by 8.0 percent, 10.9 percent, 16.4 percent, 22 percent, and 5.1 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the prices of daily necessities and services, other supplies and services, transportation and communication, medical care, housing, and clothing also rose, by 4.0 percent, 3.8 percent, 2.6 percent, 2.0 percent, 1.0 percent, and 0.5 percent, respectively. However, the prices of education, culture, and entertainment dropped by 1.1 percent.
On a monthly basis, clothing prices remained unchanged, while the prices of the other seven categories all saw slight increases.
