Recently, Liyang and Fauquier County, Virginia, U.S.A. officially established sister-city relationship, and held the signing ceremony at the Conference Center of Fauquier County. Counselor Zha Liyou from the Chinese Embassy attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Following Hakusan (Japan), Leeuwarden (Netherlands) and Union City (the United States), Fauquier became the fourth sister city of Liyang.

Fauquier is located in Northern Virginia, only 40 miles away from Washington, DC. It has an area of approximately 600 square miles and a population of 66,100.
