On April 22, the first conference on the high-quality development of orthopedics driven by innovation was held in Wujin District. The conference was sponsored by the National  Clinical Research Center for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. More than 400 participants, including experts, scholars and business representatives, exchanged their views on the future development of the healthcare industry.

Changzhou boasts more than 1,000 enterprises in the field of life sciences, with a total output value exceeding 40 billion yuan, among which the orthopedic device industry ranks among the top three in China. At the end of 2020, Wujin National High-Tech Industrial Zone, Jiangsu China-Israel Industrial Technology Research Institute and the National  Clinical Research Center for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation jointly established Changzhou Industrial Innovation Center for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. This is the first and only regional platform in China for supporting innovative industries, drawing upon the resources of a national clinical medical center. It has made remarkable achievements in leading innovative research and project commercialization, promoting the upgrading and high-quality development of the orthopedics and rehabilitation industries.

Through keynote speeches, academic reports and product displays, the conference promoted the integration of the healthcare sector with the manufacturing industry. A series of achievements on the AI-assisted  orthopedic surgery were released, which has injected strong impetus into the long-term sustainable development of the medical device sector.
