Changzhou-Netanya Online Matchmaking Conference held in CICP

On the afternoon of October 28, the first Changzhou-Netanya Online Matchmaking Conference was successfully held in China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP) with the theme of renewing friendship through heart-to-heart dialogue.

Representatives on the Changzhou side include Li Lin, vice mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government and secretary of CPC Wujin District Government, Li Lei, deputy chief of Wujin National High-Tech Industrial Zone and director of CICP, and Sima Shuanglong, vice director of Changzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office. On the Netanya side, the participants include Efraim Bulmash, deputy mayor of Netanya, Olga Lurie, general manager of the Netanya Association for Tourism, Alon Ofir, chief digital officer at the Municipality of Netanya, and Edna Spitzer, head of Twin Cities Department of the Netanya Association for Tourism.

Although the conference was held virtually, the two sides had an effective communication. At the beginning of the meeting, both cities showed their new promotional videos, which totally impressed all the participants. After then, Li Lin gave a brief introduction to Changzhou’s recent indicators of economic and social development, reviewed the friendly exchanges between the two cities over the past five years, and expressed to expand cooperation with Netanya in the future.

E. Bulmash, a descendant of a Jewish family that found refuge in China during World War II, said that he has deep feelings towards China and that he honors the friendship with Changzhou. He briefed the Changzhou side on Netanya, a beautiful Mediterranean city with prosperous tourism and high-tech industries, Seeing a number of Chinese enterprises making investment in Netanya, he looks forward to future cooperation with Changzhou in tourism, culture, innovation, entrepreneurship, smart city management, and many other areas.

Li Lei gave a presentation on the development of CICP, a pilot innovation park jointly established by the Chinese and Israeli government. She expressed to step up cooperation with Netanya based on the platform of CICP.

In the final part of the conference, the two sides agreed on establishing a mechanism to hold teleconferences on a quarterly basis choosing different topics every time. The two sides also agreed to sign an official friendship city agreement at the next conference.

This conference provided a great chance for Changzhou and Netanya to enhance mutual understanding and trust, and discuss the objectives and path forward for cooperation, and in particular, a worthwhile experience of friendship city exchanges against the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic.
