Since Changzhou’s BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system was opened to traffic in 2008, a BRT network containing over 250 kilometers of main routes, branch routes and loop routes has been formed, realizing ‘seamless docking’ with the high-speed railway, passenger transport center, large residential areas, CBDs, schools, scenic spots, etc. BRT, providing punctual transport service and free transfer, has become the citizens’ first choice for transportation.  

Over the past six years, the BRT buses have run safely 120 million kilometers and transported 600 million passengers (100 million per year), while 7,810 passengers experienced free transfer within BRT stops along one direction. BRT enjoys much higher efficiency than regular buses, which is capable of transporting 503 passengers per 100 kilometers, twice the capacity of a regular bus. It particularly plays a role as the ‘corridor of transport’ in rush hours. In 2008, B1 (BRT Line 1) transported a total of 3,765 passengers. After B2 was opened in 2009, the passenger traffic of BRT system reached 7,787 in 2009, exceeded 100 million in 2010 and hit new record high of 114 million.
