On the afternoon of December 15th, Yan Li, Party Secretary of Changzhou, met with the delegation of China Eastern Airlines headed by Tang Bin, Vice General Manager of the company. Last March, the China Eastern Airlines signed strategic cooperation agreements with Changzhou, preparing to set up a base in Changzhou and planning to construct complex buildings for flight operations, logistics, apartments, etc. Now the location of this project has been decided.

Since 2012, the China Eastern Airlines has delivered four planes in Changzhou airport overnight flying to Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xi’an, Hong Kong and South Korea directly. Changzhou airport is expected to transport 1.86 million passengers this year, of which 0.7 million passengers travel through China Eastern Airlines, taking nearly 40% of airport passenger throughput all year round. Yan hopes that the China Eastern Airlines will assist Changzhou Airport to optimize both international and regional flights, and gradually open flights to Southeast Asian countries like Japan and Singapore.

Tang highly evaluates the infrastructure of Changzhou Airport and expresses the company’s will to have further cooperation with Changzhou.

It is learned that flights between Changzhou and Taiwan will be opened in February 2005, and there will be three round-trip flights every week. By then, the China Eastern Airlines will become the first choice in Changzhou Airport among domestic airlines.
