On March 14th, Chen Jinhu, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, met with a delegation from SK IE Technology (SKIET), led by their general manager Kim Cheul Jung.
During the meeting, Chen expressed his gratitude to SKIET for their contribution to Changzhou's high-quality development over the years. He also expressed his hope that SKIET's recently completed production facility in Jintan district would provide new momentum for Changzhou's efforts to become a leading city in new energy industries.
Chen further stated that Changzhou will continue to improve its business and innovation environment and looks forward to more projects from SKIET in the future.
Kim Cheul Jung expressed his appreciation for Changzhou's support and highlighted that SKIET's branch in Jintan district, SK Hi-Tech Battery Materials (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., has experienced strong development momentum.
He added that SKIET is focused on research and development in new models, technologies and solutions for the EV industry to seek new driving forces.
SKIET, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, produces lithium-ion battery separators, which are essential materials for EV batteries.
SKIET began investing in Jintan, Changzhou in 2018. With the first-phase project operational since November 2020, the second phase put into production in April 2021, and the third phase put into operation in 2022, SKIET's Jintan facility now has an annual production capacity of 680 million square meters of lithium-ion battery separators and 430 million square meters of ceramic coated separators.
