On June 3, a delegation from Rizhao city, Shandong province, led by Zhang Hui, secretary of CPC Rizhao Municipal Committee, visited Changzhou. Qi Jiabin, secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, accompanied the delegation.

The delegation first visited Changzhou Science and Education Town. In recent years, the S&T Town has adhered to the concept of "economy-science-education linkage, university-industry-science partnership, and school-institute-enterprise benefits", promoting headquarters, platform, digital and office building economies to build a demonstration area of innovation, entrepreneurship and UNISPAR programs. The delegation then came to Wanbang New Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd., Bosch (China)’s automotive electronics plant in Wujin district, West Taihu International Innovation Center of Medical Science & Technology and Trina Solar Co., Ltd. to learn more about Changzhou’s intelligent manufacturing, energy Internet and healthcare development. The delegates also visited Jiangnan Global Harbor and Qingguoxiang historic district to learn from Changzhou’s practices in promoting the cultural and tourism industry and the night-time economy.

Qi Jiabin said that at present Changzhou is following the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches during the Two Sessions to implement the tasks of ensuring stability on six fronts and maintain security in six areas. On the basis of ensuring economic development and social stability, Changzhou will strive to make greater, sounder and faster development through accelerated promotion of intelligent manufacturing, science and education innovation, and cultural and tourism industry. At the same time, the city will increase its investment in high-quality education, medical care, employment incentives and elderly care programs, resolutely stabilizing employment and ensuring living standards. He hopes that Rizhao and Changzhou will strengthen inter-city cooperation in fields of e-commerce, cultural and tourism industry, etc.

Zhang Hui said that Changzhou is a city of prosperity, culture and education. She hopes that through this visit, the delegation will learn from Changzhou’s outstanding examples and successful practices, and build Rizhao into a beautiful, prosperous, eco-friendly, livable and dynamic modern seaside city. She also hopes that the two sides will establish a closer cooperative relationship to attain higher achievements.

In recent years, Rizhao has effectively implemented its development strategy of building an eco-friendly city with strong industrial base and dynamic tourism development, which opens up on diversity and attracts talent. In 2019, the city's GDP reached 194.938 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year, and the growth rate ranked first in Shandong province.
