Recently, Party Secretary Mr. Yan Li received the delegation of Curitiba, Brazil headed by its Mayor Mr. Gustavo Fruet and the Deputy Speaker of City Council Mr. Tito Zeglin. The two parties signed an Agreement on Establishing Friendship Cities between Changzhou and Curitiba.

Curitiba is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The city's population numbered approximately 1,840,000, making it the eighth most populous city in the country, and the largest in Brazil's South Region. Curitiba is an important cultural, political, and economic center in Latin America. The city sits on a plateau at 932 metres (3,058 ft) above sea level. It is located 105 kilometres (65 mi) west of the seaport of Paranaguá and is served by the Afonso Pena International and Bacacheri airports.

Curitiba established the first bus rapid transit (BRT) system, Rede Integrada de Transporte ('Integrated Transportation Network'), which entered service in 1974. This inspired many similar systems around Brazil and the world. Changzhou also learned from Curitiba in the course of building the BRT system.
